Kim walked out of the conference room at La Luna bookstore with an evil grin on her face.

“Are you sure you want to deliver those papers yourself? Lisa is one evil bitch; she’s likely to kill the person who delivers bad news to her.” She turned and smiled at the tall, well-built black man that had followed her out of the building.

“Malcolm, I hope she does, because her ass will be mine. She won’t though, this will floor her.” She patted the envelope in her hand.

“I’ll say one thing for you, Pack Healer. You sure know how to stir things up.” He shook his head. “Do you know where your sister might be?”

“She should be at the Master Healer’s office getting her shoulder looked at. And I have only begun to shake things up.” Kim laughed as she got into her car and drove off.

“Did he give you any idea what’s going to happen at this meeting?” Lisa scowled at Adam as they walked up the porch steps.

“No, but I’d bet my shares in Blackwood that he’s going to lay down some ground rules for us to follow.” Adam sighed and ran a hand through his hair. The front doors opened as they stepped onto the porch.

“Good evening, if you’ll follow me please.” The butler led the wolves through the house and into the study. “Make yourselves comfortable; Mr. Christopher will be with you shortly.” The doors shut and Adam looked at Lisa.

“This room is creepy even when it’s well-lit.” He walked over and sat on the couch next to her. “Hopefully Michael won’t keep us waiting too long.”

“I didn’t realize your time was that valuable, Adam.” Michael remarked as he walked in and took his chair behind the desk. “It is after regular business hours.”

“I’m expecting an important call from overseas.” Lisa replied as she sat up. “Some of our clients prefer to conduct business outside of normal hours.”

“I’ll bet a lot of those clients aren’t exactly human.”

“We are very discreet when it comes to meeting our clients’ needs.”

“As well it should be. I’m a private collector myself, and some of the pieces I possess would draw suspicion. But that’s not why we’re here tonight.” He rang a bell and the butler came in carrying a tray with three brandy snifters on it. He offered one to Michael, than to the wolves.

“I propose a toast to celebrate the reign of the new Pack Leader and his Second." Michael lifted his glass in salute and smiled at Adam and Lisa. The two wolves just stared at him.

“Don’t tell me you’re afraid I’ve poisoned your drink? I would do nothing to ruin the taste of an excellent brandy that happens to be older than either of you.” He raised an eyebrow. “Or did you think the drinks I served would be referred to by type instead of age?”

“Well, we’ve never worked with a vampire before.” Lisa sniffed her drink and took a cautious sip. “This is really quite good.”

“Thank you; it’s a favorite of mine.
